Organic Besan Flour is a protein-rich, gluten-free flour, stone milled from ground chickpeas. Besan flour is also known as chickpea flour and gram flour in recipes. Organic Besan Flour is pale yellow in colour with a strong nutty flavour, making it popular in savoury dishes and Indian cooking.
Organic Besan Flour is commonly used as a binding or thickening agent in many recipes and used widely in Indian and Middle Eastern cooking for pancakes, dumplings, sweetmeat and for pakora batter. Organic Besan flour can also be substituted for wheat based flours to make gluten free recipes including bread, muffins and cakes.
Organic Besan Flour is produced by dehusking and milling brown chick peas. There is no further refinement, so the nutritional value of the whole pea is retained. To retain freshness, Organic Besan Flour should ideally be refrigerated.
